The Environmental Science and Technology High School (ESAT) is a new public charter school developed and operated by Alliance College-Ready Public Schools. ESAT’s goal is to prepare all students for high school graduation and readiness to enter and succeed in college. To accomplish this, ESAT’s core educational model will focus on five core values: high expectations for all students, small personalized schools and classrooms, increased instructional time, highly qualified principals and teachers, and parents as partners.
The school will also represent an exciting new
initiative by the Alliance. In keeping with our commitment to putting research
based best practices to work in the classroom, the school will concentrate on a
college-readiness through a themed curriculum that integrates experiential
learning. With a focus on environmental science and technology, ESAT’s
mission will be to equip students with the tools necessary to excel in high
school curriculum, to prepare them for success in college, and to provide them
with the skills and experience they need to live in and contribute to a
sustainable economy. This commitment will be seen through specific
coursework, cross-discipline projects, community partnerships and activities
including a green garden space, comprehensive recycling plan, and environmental
club, to name just a few. The site itself will have
solar panels over the parking area to produce carbon free electricity,
windmills along the edges of the school, and a central plant that will
efficiently provide heating and air conditioning.
